The Preserve on Rathbun Lake - Honey Creek Resort

We have played The Preserve multiple times EACH WEEK since it opened, and it is definitely our favorite course in southern Iowa. While I'm fairly new to golf (female, 6 years golf play), my partner (male) is a SERIOUS black tee player. We both love the course because it's challenging and forgiving! It's ideal for mens golf outings (great bar in the club house!) and for women who need a country getaway. Love the GPS on the quiet electric carts (so appropriate for the country setting). And the views are magnificent. Hole 5 is LONG and challenging but so picturesque. Hole 1 and 2 are both par-5, which definitely forces you to get in the golf groove right away. Overall, it's a great place to visit (easy day trip from Des Moines). Darin Fisher is an outstanding pro who ensures that every visitor has a great golf outing.
